SoundCloud's place in Indian music
SoundCloud is where many Indian DJs, lo-fi producers, desi hip-hop artists and remix makers first post their work. Club promoters in Goa, Mumbai, Bengaluru and Delhi often check a DJ's SoundCloud mixes before booking. The play count is shown on every track and in search, so a mix with 140 plays looks untested, while one with 8,000 looks like a DJ people listen to.
What plays change
Plays raise the public play counter on the track. They don't add likes, reposts or comments, and they don't bring followers. SoundCloud also shows likes and reposts on each track, and a mix with 20,000 plays and 3 likes looks odd. Add likes and reposts in proportion if you order large play counts.
Prices
On the default option, 1,000 plays cost ₹109, 10,000 cost ₹1,090 and 50,000 cost ₹5,450. SoundCloud plays are among the cheapest music services. See the table for start time and speed, updated 24 Oct 2026.
Monetisation
SoundCloud's Artist and Artist Pro plans offer monetisation through its fan-powered royalties, which pay based on what real listeners play. Artificial plays don't earn meaningful payouts, and SoundCloud can remove plays it considers fraudulent and act on accounts that use them. Treat plays as promotion.
Getting the right link
Open the track and copy the URL from the browser or Share → Copy link: soundcloud.com/artistname/track-name. Private tracks with secret links won't work; the track must be public. Playlists and albums use their own links.
Placing the order
Paste the track link, choose a quantity between 500 and 10,00,00,000, and pay. On the default option, 10,000 plays take about under an hour. Don't make the track private during delivery.
Make the track page work
Upload high-quality audio, add square artwork, and write a description with a tracklist for mixes. Tag the genre accurately; SoundCloud search and related tracks rely on it. Link your Instagram and booking email in your profile. Promoters who arrive through a link should find everything they need in one place.
Getting real plays
Share mixes in DJ communities and on your Instagram Stories with a clip of the best transition. Repost-swap with other DJs and producers of similar size. Upload consistently; followers get notified of new tracks. Collaborate with vocalists or producers who'll share the release.
Paying and tracking
Top up by UPI from any app. The order page shows progress. Undelivered plays are refunded to your wallet automatically.
Example: a Goa techno DJ
A DJ who plays shacks in Anjuna uploads a 60-minute melodic techno set before the tourist season. It has 300 plays. She orders 5,000 plays plus 150 likes and 40 reposts, then sends the link to three club promoters. The set now looks like one people listen to, and one promoter books her for a December Sunday.
Mixes versus singles
Long DJ mixes and short original tracks are judged differently. Promoters expect a good DJ's hour-long mix to have thousands of plays and a handful of comments with timestamps. A producer's single is judged more on likes and reposts, because those show other artists and listeners vouching for it. If you're a DJ, focus plays on your two or three best recent mixes; if you're a producer, spread a smaller order across your newest release and add reposts.
