Why Facebook Live still works in India
Facebook Live is widely used by Indian sellers, temples and religious organisations, astrologers, coaching institutes, local news pages and political or community events. Many viewers are older and prefer Facebook to Instagram or YouTube. When followers get the “is live now” notification and tap in, the viewer count at the top tells them whether to stay. A Live with 4 viewers loses people; one with 150 keeps them.
How live viewer options work
Each option sets a number of concurrent viewers and a duration, such as 100 viewers for 60 minutes. Viewers join after the order starts, often ramping up, and stay for about that time. Prices depend on both numbers; the table lists each combination.
Prices
Live viewer options start from ₹10. See the table for viewer count, duration, start time and price, updated 24 Oct 2026.
Order after going live
Viewers can only join a Live that's running. Start the broadcast, open it, copy its link (facebook.com/…/videos/… once live), then place the order. Stay live for at least the option's duration; if you end early, viewers leave with you.
Pages, profiles and groups
Lives on public pages and public profiles work. Lives in private groups can't receive outside viewers. If you're live from a group for a community event, consider going live on the page and sharing it to the group instead.
What live viewers don't do
They don't comment, send stars or share. Comments come from real viewers. Greet people by name, ask questions they can answer in a word, and pin a comment with key details, such as the product price, the event schedule or the phone number.
Placing the order
Go live publicly, copy the live video link, paste it into the order box, choose the option and pay. Watch the viewer count in the Live as viewers join; the order page shows progress too.
After the Live
Facebook saves the Live as a video on your page. The live viewer count doesn't become the replay's view count. If you want the replay to look watched, order video views on it, and share the replay with a short summary of what was covered.
Paying and tracking
Top up by UPI before you go live, so you're not dealing with payments mid-broadcast. If the Live ends early or something stops delivery, the undelivered part is refunded to your wallet automatically.
Example: a temple's aarti broadcast
A temple trust in Ujjain streams the evening aarti on its Facebook page daily. Devotees abroad and in other cities tune in, but the first minutes often showed single-digit viewers, which discouraged people from staying. On festival days, the trust orders 200 viewers for 45 minutes after going live. Devotees joining see a gathering, stay for the full aarti, and share the Live with family.
Selling during a Live
Many Indian sellers run Facebook Live sales: sarees, jewellery, plants and kitchenware. Show each item close up, say the price and a code number clearly, and ask viewers to comment the code to book. Keep a helper reading comments and confirming orders on WhatsApp. Live viewers make the sale look busy; the clear process turns real viewers into buyers.
