Most channels don't need all 4,000
Check YouTube Studio → Earn for your current public watch hours. Many channels already have a large share from real viewers and only need the gap. Ordering the gap, for example 1,500 or 2,000 hours, costs much less than 4,000: 1,000 hours cost ₹8,399 and 2,000 cost ₹16,798 on the default option.
How delivery works
Watch time is delivered as long views on one public video, which usually must be at least 60 minutes long; each option states its minimum. Hours accumulate over days, and Studio's figure can lag a day or two behind delivery. Keep the video public for the full 12-month window, because private or deleted videos stop counting.
Approval is the real hurdle
YouTube's reviewers look at your channel's theme, most-viewed videos and newest uploads. Channels with reused content, such as compilations, clips or re-uploads without meaningful commentary, are rejected however many hours they have. Channels with artificial-looking traffic can be rejected or later demonetised. Spend on hours only if your content is original and you'd pass review.
Cheaper ways to reach 4,000
Upload long, useful videos: full tutorials, complete recipes, exam strategy sessions, podcasts. Save live streams publicly. Build playlists so viewers keep watching. Many channels reach 4,000 with a few months of long uploads.
Example
A Delhi UPSC mentor has 2,300 real watch hours. Instead of buying 4,000, she uploads a two-hour masterclass and orders 1,800 hours on it over three weeks, while posting weekly. Her channel crosses 4,000, and because her teaching is original, it passes review.
Paying and refunds
Top up by UPI and paste the long video's link. Undelivered hours are refunded to your wallet automatically; options with refill top up hours YouTube removes within the window.
Don't make the video private afterwards
Hours only count while the video is public. Some channels make the video private after crossing the threshold, which removes the hours and can delay approval.
Watch time and Shorts
Shorts views don't count toward the 4,000 public watch hours; that requirement only counts long-form public videos. The alternative route is 10 million Shorts views in 90 days. If your channel is mostly Shorts, the watch-hours route may never fit, and buying hours on a single long video won't reflect your real channel. Choose the route that matches what you actually upload.
