YouTube's role for comics
Instagram clips introduce a comic; YouTube makes fans. A ten-minute set or a full hour-long special lets viewers spend real time with your voice and point of view. Many Indian comedians earn from YouTube ads, sponsorships and ticket sales driven by their channel, and a strong channel can lead to OTT specials.
What to upload
Ten- to fifteen-minute sets from your best shows. Crowd-work compilations. Full specials once you have an hour of material. Podcasts with other comics. Sketches. Shorts of your tightest bits and crowd-work moments, each linking to the longer video.
Shorts and long-form together
Shorts bring new viewers fast; long sets turn them into subscribers and ticket buyers. Post three or four Shorts a week and a longer video every week or two.
What to order
A new comedy channel might order 500 to 2,000 subscribers over three weeks, and a few thousand views on a new set or Shorts. If your channel is monetised, keep bought views off monetised videos, because YouTube can withhold earnings for invalid traffic. Never buy watch time.
Example: a Marathi stand-up comic
A Pune comic performing in Marathi starts a YouTube channel with 200 subscribers. He orders 1,500 subscribers over three weeks and uploads a 12-minute set from a Pune show, plus daily Shorts of crowd work, adding views to the Shorts. Marathi-speaking viewers in Mumbai and abroad share the set, a promoter books him for a Mumbai show, and the channel reaches monetisation on its own over the next year.
Sound and shooting
Record audio from the mixer or a lapel mic. Bad audio kills comedy. Use two cameras if you can, one wide and one close-up, and capture audience laughter.
Releasing a special
Before uploading a full special, announce it, post teaser Shorts and premiere it at a set time so fans watch together. Many comics then tour new material while the special grows.
Content risks
Jokes about religion, communities or public figures can draw legal complaints. Know the risks, avoid defamation and be aware that YouTube may restrict or remove content that violates its hate-speech policies.
Sponsorships
Brands sponsor comedy specials and podcasts. Disclose sponsorships clearly in the video and description under ASCI guidelines.
Platform rules
YouTube prohibits fake engagement. Keep orders proportionate and upload regularly.
Payment and refunds
Prices are in rupees with nothing added. Undelivered quantity returns to your wallet automatically; wallet money isn't refundable to a bank account.
Support
Message support on WhatsApp, Telegram or email, in English or Hindi.
No passwords
We only need your channel or video link.
Subtitles
Add subtitles to every video, including English subtitles for regional-language sets. Subtitles open your comedy to viewers across India and abroad.
Thumbnails and titles
Use a frame where your expression tells the joke, plus a short title that hints at the topic, like 'Indian Parents vs Online Shopping'. Avoid misleading clickbait; comedy fans unsubscribe when titles lie.
Podcasts
A comedy podcast with other comics or guests builds a loyal weekly audience and gives you material for dozens of Shorts.
Measuring results
Watch average view duration on sets, returning viewers and ticket-link clicks. Sold-out shows and comments quoting your jokes show the channel is working.
