Punjabi YouTube beyond music
Music drives Punjabi YouTube, but it isn't the only thing that works. Village and farming vlogs, Punjabi comedy series, kabaddi and wrestling, Sikh history and gurbani, Punjabi cooking, life as an international student in Canada or Australia, immigration guidance and truck-driving vlogs from North America all have big audiences. The diaspora is a large, high-value share of viewers, which helps ad revenue and sponsorships.
Releasing a Punjabi song
Premiere the official video, but spread the hook first: post three or four Shorts with different cuts of the chorus in the week before release, and invite bhangra and fitness creators to use the audio on Shorts and Reels. On release day, share in fan groups and ask early listeners to comment on their favourite line. Pin a comment with lyrics or a behind-the-scenes link.
Where a starting push helps
A new artist's channel with 40 subscribers looks unproven. A gradual order of a few hundred to a few thousand subscribers, and views on non-monetised content like a teaser, a lyric announcement or a behind-the-scenes Short, can make the first impression stronger. Keep bought views off the monetised official video.
Monetisation rules
Never buy watch time. Never add bought views to monetised videos; YouTube treats them as invalid traffic and can withhold earnings or strike the channel. Distributors and labels may also act on suspicious traffic. Keep orders small and gradual.
Titles and language
Most Punjabi viewers search in Roman Punjabi, some in Gurmukhi. Use the song title, artist name and a clear keyword. For vlogs, name the place or topic plainly: 'Brampton truck driving day', 'Moga village wedding'.
Timing for two worlds
Evening in Punjab catches home viewers; Indian morning reaches Canada and the US in their evening. Many Punjabi channels premiere around 6 am to 8 am IST for North America or schedule Shorts for both windows.
Example: an indie singer from Ludhiana
A Ludhiana singer releases a debut track. He posts four hook Shorts before release, adds views only to those non-monetised Shorts and a teaser, and orders 1,000 subscribers over a month. Two Canadian bhangra creators use the sound, the official video reaches 600,000 real views in two months, and a label offers a deal for his next song.
Collaborations
Features with established singers, rappers or comedy creators bring big real audiences. Even small collaborations with local dancers help the hook spread.
Shorts
Shorts carry Punjabi music further than anything else. Post several per release and keep posting after release as fans pick up the sound.
Earning beyond ads
Live shows, wedding bookings, brand deals with clothing and immigration businesses, and music licensing all grow with a credible channel.
Pricing
Rupee pricing with nothing added at checkout. UPI top-ups from ₹100. Automatic wallet refunds for undelivered quantity.
