What Instagram actually does
Instagram's terms prohibit artificial likes, follows and comments. In practice, Instagram mostly acts by removing the fake or inactive accounts, so bought followers drop. In some cases it limits features such as likes or follows for a short time, or reduces reach for accounts tied to spammy behaviour. Outright bans for simply having bought followers are rare; they're far more common for accounts that run follow/unfollow bots, use third-party apps with their login, or post spam.
The biggest risk: your login
The safest rule is never to give your Instagram password, OTP or two-factor codes to anyone, including a panel. A legitimate service only needs your public profile link. Scams offering free followers if you log in through a link are how many Indian accounts get hacked. Turn on two-factor authentication, and check Settings → Accounts Center → Password and security → Where you're logged in for sessions you don't recognise.
How to keep the risk low
Keep the account public during delivery. Order amounts that fit your account's size and activity: a few hundred to a couple of thousand on a new account, more as you post. Choose slower delivery for large orders. Use options with a refill period so drops are covered. Don't stack orders from several sellers on one profile. Keep posting real content so the account doesn't look abandoned.
Money safety
Pay a business through a traceable method, such as UPI to a panel with automatic wallet credit, not a screenshot to someone's personal number. Check that partial deliveries are refunded. Avoid offers of “real active Indian followers” for a few rupees; real people don't follow for paise, so the claim is false.
What bought followers won't do
They won't like, comment, share or buy. Your engagement rate will fall unless you add likes and views or grow real engagement. Brands checking a creator's audience increasingly notice this, so creators pitching for paid collaborations should be especially careful.
Example
A Kolkata home-decor seller with 900 followers orders 1,500 on a Stable option with a 30-day refill, delivered over five days, using only her profile link. A small drop after three weeks is refilled from the order page. Her account works normally throughout, and she keeps posting Reels of new cushion covers.
