FinTwit India
Indian financial X, often called FinTwit, is where market commentators, analysts, fund managers and journalists discuss results, policy, IPOs and the day's moves in real time. A thoughtful thread on a company's results can travel far. Followers matter because people decide whose analysis to read partly by how many others follow them.
SEBI's rules
Giving investment advice or research recommendations for a fee requires SEBI registration. SEBI has acted against unregistered finfluencers, and its 2024 rules bar registered entities from associating with unregistered people who give advice or claim returns. If you're not registered, keep posts educational, avoid specific buy or sell calls and say so in your bio.
Don't mislead with numbers
A high follower count makes a trader look credible. Using bought followers to sell tips, courses or paid groups misleads people who may lose money. We'd only use followers for an analyst or educator whose profile is genuinely new.
What we'd order
1. A modest number of followers for a new, honest profile.
2. Likes on your best threads, in proportion to their views.
3. Nothing that creates a false track record.
Threads that build a following
Break down a company's quarterly results, explain a policy change in plain language, compare two sectors, or explain a concept like free cash flow with an example. Use charts, cite sources and keep each post short. Good threads get reposted by bigger accounts.
Disclosures
Disclose your positions when you discuss a stock, state your registration status, and add a short disclaimer to analysis threads. FinTwit readers respect transparency.
Example: a market analyst
A Mumbai equity analyst, registered as a research analyst, starts posting results breakdowns on X under her own name. Her profile has 300 followers. She orders 1,000 followers over two weeks and posts a thread on every major results day with charts. A large finance account reposts her bank results thread, and real followers pass 8,000 in three months.
X's rules
X's platform manipulation policy prohibits fake engagement, and X has rules against financial scams. Keep orders modest.
Replies and Spaces
Reply with data and reasoning to bigger accounts during market hours, and join or host X Spaces on budget day or results season. People follow analysts whose comments add something.
Profile link
Paste x.com/yourname or twitter.com/yourname. Your account must be public.
Delivery
Followers arrive gradually, starting within minutes to a few hours. Some may drop in X's sweeps; refill options cover it.
Budget
A few hundred rupees on followers once is plenty. Top up by UPI; undelivered quantity is refunded automatically.
Beware impersonators
Scammers often clone popular trading accounts to sell fake tips. Pin a post saying you'll never DM people with offers, and report impersonators.
Our position
We'll help honest analysts and educators look established. We won't help anyone sell unregistered advice or fake a track record.
Bio and pinned post
Your bio should say who you are, what you analyse and your registration status, for example 'SEBI-registered RA, INH000000000, banks and NBFCs' or 'Not a SEBI-registered adviser; education only'. Pin your best thread, so new followers immediately see the quality of your work.
Market hours and timing
Indian markets are open from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm. Post pre-market views before 9 am, short updates during the session and a recap after close. Results season and budget day bring the biggest audiences, so plan your best threads for those days.
