Two kinds of drop
Monthly listeners can fall for two reasons. The first is natural: the figure counts unique listeners over a rolling 28 days, so once delivered listening ends, it drifts back down. The second is filtering: Spotify removes listening it considers artificial, which can reduce the figure early, before the 28 days are up. Refill covers the second kind, not the first.
How refill works
The order page records your monthly-listener figure at the start, the amount delivered and the end of the refill window. If the figure drops below the delivered level early because listening was filtered, the Refill button becomes active; tap it and the shortfall is delivered again.
Why refill matters before a deadline
If you've timed an order to peak in the week a festival or label reviews your data, an early drop from filtering can ruin the timing. A refill window protects that week.
Risk, plainly
Filtering is also a signal that Spotify noticed something. Distributors can be fined for artificial streams and may warn or penalise artists. Refill restores the number; it doesn't remove that risk. Keep orders proportionate to your real audience.
Choosing the window
Pick a refill window that covers the period you need the figure to hold, usually the two to four weeks around a deadline.
Example
A Shillong indie band timed 3,000 monthly listeners to peak in the week a Bengaluru festival reviewed applications. Eight days in, Spotify filtered some listening and the figure dipped by about 400. The band's manager tapped Refill, the shortfall was replaced within two days, and the figure was back near its peak when the festival's team checked.
Getting the link
Artist profile → three dots → Share → Copy link to artist (open.spotify.com/artist/…).
Pair with followers
Followers don't reset every 28 days. If you need the page to look established for months, build followers steadily alongside.
Keep a record
Note the figure on the day you order and check it daily during the window, so you know when a refill is due.
Honesty
When asked for your numbers, give context and lead with your real live draw and ticket sales.
What they won't do
Monthly listeners don't buy tickets or come back next month. Releases and shows build the audience that stays.
Payment and refunds
Pay by UPI with nothing added at checkout. Undelivered listening is refunded at once; refills cover early filtering after delivery.
Planning around a deadline
Work backwards from the date someone will look. Order roughly two weeks ahead, choose a refill window that runs at least a week past that date, and check the figure every day or two. If it dips early, refill straight away so there's time for Spotify to recalculate before the review. After the date passes, let the figure fall naturally rather than ordering again immediately; repeated spikes look worse than a gentle decline.
