Who a million views is for
Film and OTT trailers, music labels with a big release, national brands launching a campaign film, and large channels whose flagship videos regularly reach hundreds of thousands of real viewers. For smaller channels, a million views on one video looks out of place.
The '1M' effect
YouTube shows 1,000,000 as '1M views'. Press, curators and viewers treat that as a hit, so the video's likes, comments and traffic sources should look consistent with one.
Monetisation
Keep monetisation off while a video receives bought views. YouTube can classify bought traffic as invalid, reverse earnings and review the channel.
Delivery over weeks
On the default option, a million views take about 1–5 days. Choose gradual delivery spread over days or weeks.
Engagement to match
A million-view video usually has tens of thousands of likes and thousands of comments. Plan likes in proportion and a team to reply to comments.
Example: a Tamil film trailer
A Tamil film's production house releases its trailer and keeps the video unmonetised. Real fans share it widely, and the team adds a million views and 30,000 likes over ten days to keep pace with rival trailers' numbers. Entertainment sites report the trailer as a hit, and the film's opening-week bookings benefit.
