What a Spotify follow means
When someone follows an artist on Spotify, new releases appear in their Release Radar and the artist shows in their library. When they follow a playlist, it's saved for them to come back to. A follow is a sign of a lasting fan, which is why labels, agents and curators often care more about followers than raw plays.
Why UK followers
UK-based curators and Indian artists with British fans, especially in bhangra, desi hip-hop, Bollywood remixes and South Asian electronic music, sometimes want their followers to look British. Spotify doesn't show follower locations to artists, so it mostly matters for how the profile appears.
The rules
Spotify's terms prohibit manipulating the platform, and fake accounts are removed periodically. Because followers don't stream, there's no artificial streaming fee, but the count can still drop. Keep orders modest.
Artist profile or playlist
Paste open.spotify.com/artist/ for an artist profile or open.spotify.com/playlist/ for a public playlist. Orders can't be moved between them after they start.

UK followers start at the live price per 100 on the default option.
Example
A London-based curator of Indian and British Asian music runs a playlist called 'Desi Underground UK'. It has 450 followers and real listeners from London, Leicester and Birmingham. Before pitching artists to submit tracks, the curator orders 500 UK followers so the playlist looks established, while continuing to update it weekly.
Playlists need real listening
Artists now check whether a playlist's followers actually listen, using Spotify for Artists data after they're added. A playlist with many followers and few streams gets a reputation quickly. Keep playlists active and well curated.
Ratio to listeners
For artists, a follower count between 5% and 30% of monthly listeners is common. Order in proportion to your real listeners.
Growing real UK followers
Share your Spotify link at UK gigs, on posters and in Instagram stories. Use pre-save links before releases. Ask UK radio presenters who play you to mention your Spotify. Collaborate with British Asian artists so their fans discover you.
What followers won't do
They won't stream, save tracks or earn royalties. They raise the follower count on a profile or playlist.

For playlist curators

Keep both numbers believable
After the order, check that your follower count still looks reasonable next to your monthly listeners. If listeners are low, spend time on releases and promotion before adding more followers.
