Followers vs listeners
Spotify followers are people who tapped Follow on your artist profile or playlist. Followers get new releases in Release Radar and see your updates; listeners are anyone who streamed you. Followers change more slowly and say more about long-term fans, which is why labels and curators look at the ratio of followers to monthly listeners.
Lower risk than plays, not zero
A follower order doesn't add streams, so it doesn't trigger Spotify's artificial streaming fees in the same way plays do. But Spotify's terms still prohibit manipulating its platform, and it removes fake accounts, which lowers your follower count. Keep orders modest.
Artist profiles and playlists
The order works on an artist profile link, open.spotify.com/artist/, or a public playlist link, open.spotify.com/playlist/. Choose the right one; orders can't be moved after they start.
Why US followers
Indian artists with North American fans, and curators running playlists aimed at US listeners, sometimes prefer followers that appear American. Spotify doesn't show creators where their followers are, only where listeners are, so the targeting mostly affects how the audience looks to anyone who checks profiles.

US followers start at ₹24.90 per 100 on the default option.
Keep the ratio sensible
Many artists have followers equal to 5% to 30% of their monthly listeners, although it varies by genre. An artist with 400 monthly listeners and 20,000 followers looks wrong. Match the order to your listeners.
Example
A Chennai producer runs a public playlist of South Indian lo-fi, aimed at study listeners in the US. It has 300 followers and growing streams from US students. He orders 500 US followers so the playlist looks established when he pitches it to US lo-fi YouTube channels for cross-promotion.
Grow real followers
Ask listeners to follow at the end of videos and in captions. Share Spotify links rather than YouTube links where it makes sense. Use Spotify's Countdown Pages for pre-saves before releases, which turn interest into follows.
What followers won't do
They won't stream, save, add your tracks to playlists or earn royalties. They raise the follower number on a profile or playlist.
