Why Spotify plays drop
Spotify filters streams it considers artificial and removes them from play counts, sometimes weeks after they were counted. When that happens, the public count on your track goes backwards. A refill period means the order is topped up if its plays are removed during the window.
Read this before relying on refill
A drop in plays is also a sign that Spotify detected something it didn't like. Distributors are fined for artificial streams and may warn the artist, withhold royalties or take the track down. Refilling restores the count; it doesn't remove that risk. If your distributor relationship matters, keep orders small, gradual and in proportion to your real listeners.
How refill works
The order page records the track's play count at the start, the amount delivered and the end of the refill window. If the count falls below that total during the window, the Refill button becomes active; tap it and the shortfall is delivered again. Each request is logged.
What isn't covered
Tracks removed by the distributor, re-released under a new link, or taken down by Spotify. A refill can't raise the count above what you ordered.
When refill makes sense
For a track you'll put in a press kit, festival application or label pitch over the next few months, where the number on the track page needs to stay where it was when you sent it.
Example
A Chennai independent composer released an instrumental track he planned to include in pitches to ad agencies for jingle work over the next quarter. He ordered 5,000 plays with a 90-day refill, delivered over two weeks. After six weeks about 300 had been removed; he tapped Refill and the count recovered within a few days. He also kept promoting the track through his YouTube channel, which brought real streams.
Getting the link
Three dots on the track → Share → Copy Song Link (open.spotify.com/track/…).
Pair with saves and followers
Plays that keep being topped up while saves and followers stay flat look inconsistent. Real promotion that brings saves and followers is the best protection of all.
Keep a record
Note the play count before ordering and when delivery finishes, and check Spotify for Artists for stream trends.
Pitch the next release properly
Pitch through Spotify for Artists before release, build pre-saves, and share widely in release week. Real momentum is the only thing that lasts on Spotify.
What plays won't do
They won't earn meaningful royalties or trigger editorial playlists.
Payment and refunds
Pay by UPI with nothing added at checkout. Undelivered plays are refunded at once; refills cover removals after delivery.
