Price ladder
On the default option, 1,000 plays cost ₹49, 5,000 cost ₹245 and 10,000 cost ₹490. Plays are the cheapest Spotify service per 1,000 because they're the easiest to deliver. Targeted plays, such as US, UK, Brazilian or German, cost several times more.
The risk, in rupees
The low price hides the real cost. If your distributor finds significant artificial streaming on a track, it can withhold that track's royalties, remove the release, or close your account. Spotify's per-track fee for artificial streaming is passed on to distributors, and their terms usually let them pass it on to you. A few hundred rupees of plays can cost a release you spent lakhs producing.
Plays don't reach the royalty threshold
Spotify pays royalties only on tracks with at least 1,000 streams in the previous twelve months, and artificial streams don't count towards that. Buying 1,000 plays to cross the threshold doesn't work.
Tiers
Starter plays are filtered most. Stable plays are spread more naturally. Premium uses the sources that hold best, but no tier is safe from Spotify's filters.
What we'd spend instead
For the price of 10,000 plays, most Indian artists can run a small Instagram or YouTube ad campaign that brings real listeners, or pay a creator to use the track in a Reel. Real listeners save, follow and come back, which is what Spotify's algorithm rewards.
If you still order
Keep it small, never on a label release or a track you're pitching, and check your distributor's policy first.
Prices are all-inclusive
Rupee prices, no GST or gateway fee. Undelivered plays are refunded to your wallet automatically; plays Spotify removes later are not.
Paying
Top up by UPI from ₹100 and pay from your wallet.
Lower-risk option
If your profile looks empty, artist followers don't add streams and carry far less risk. See the Spotify followers price page.
Track links
Plays use a track link, open.spotify.com/track/, from Share and Copy Song Link in the app. One order per track.
Why plays look like good value
At a few rupees per thousand, plays look like the cheapest way to make a track look popular. But curators, labels and promoters rarely judge a track by its play count alone. They look at saves, followers, listener locations and how listeners found the track, all of which Spotify for Artists shows. Plays without any of those signals stand out rather than impress.
